Mechagon, the underground metropolis. Jewel of the underground empire, home of the world’s greatest engineering college. The clockwork city. The clicking and grinding of gears is a near constant companion to it’s citizens, the hum of machinery the comforting sound of activity and life.
Mechagon city is built into a huge natural underground cavern, expanded further by gnomish engineering and filled top to bottom with buildings, scaffolding, walkways, and huge machines that process minerals, gems, and of course brace after brace of ketsu wood.
The capital city of mechagon claws it’s way out of the earth, hydraulic lifts raising and lowering huge ramps that lead directly to the trade routes that sustain the artificers of the city, and indeed the entire nation. Only one warlord in history has ever been foolish enough to invade mechagon. After losing more than half his army to the twisting inhospitable wilderness, he wasted another third of his army forcibly trying to lower the ramps into the city. By the time he managed to actually enter the city, the bedraggled remnants of his army were faced with the might of all mechagon’s highly trained, combat hardened exploration teams combined. Suffice to say, the battle was more of a one-sided massacre than a fight. Tales of this terrible defeat has kept mechagon’s borders safe ever since.
