Pyria is the crowning jewel of the desert, and with its gorgeous stained glass edifices that phrase can often be taken quite literally. The city’s buildings are all made out of glass, the combination of powerful fire magic and an abundance of sand. some smaller huts are covered with furs during the day, but most of this major city is towering spires of glass, interspersed with tubes like filaments holding the metropolis together. For privacy, and as a natural side effect of the artistic streak in all creatures, most of these buildings are made out of stained glass. Private chambers are stained dark, rich colors, almost fading all the way to solid black. These are visible dark spots which blend together with the fantastic imagery, brilliant patterns, and vibrant colors that make up the majority of the city’s structures. The tubes crisscrossing these buildings find their roots in strange chambers near the edges of the city. Spaced out geometrically, these chambers are staffed by fire wizards whose job it is to absorb all of the desert’s heat during the day, that it might be controlled and directed wherever it needs be at night. Fellow practitioners of Pyria’s unique branch of fire magic can tap into this network of heat and reshape it to their needs, even concentrating it until it ignites into a new flame to light their way.
The greatest source of learning and knowledge in all of Zendal, Pyria boasts The University, a huge, sprawling structure made of the most intricate and beautiful stained glass architecture. It is here that potential fire mages are set upon their path, and taught the tools and tricks of their profession. Of course, such a massive school teaches more than one subject, and learned people from all over the continent congregate there to trade knowledge and learn new skills. As a result, nearly any subject can be found being taught within these halls, whether magical or not. Of course, wizards and their ilk still dominate the university, as those with the thirst for knowledge are most often found treading the path of arcane mastery.
